our harvest share membership scheme is currently full
▶ As of May 2026 we are currently providing 135 veg boxes per week to local households, and at the moment we just don’t have enough space to grow any more veg!
▶ We have a waiting list of 40 people waiting to join our veg box box scheme, so we have decided to close the registration form for now. We will re-open the waiting list once it gets shorter again.
▶ If you would like to support the work of Kirkstall Valley Farm until our waiting list re-opens, you can find out about our Supporting Memberships here.
▶ If you would like to get started with a local, chemical-free veg box sooner, our neighbouring Community Supported Agriculture projects at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm (LS7 2QG) and Swillington Organic Farm (LS26 8QA) are both accepting new veg share members.
you can find out all about our harvest share membership (veg box) scheme below. we will update this website as soon as the waiting list re-opens.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Kirkstall Valley Farm is a community supported agriculture (CSA) project. This means we are a partnership between farmers (us) and consumers (you) in which the responsibilities, risks and rewards of farming are shared.
What am I expected to do as a CSA member?
You make a monthly membership payment to purchase a “share” of Kirkstall Valley Farm and become a member.
What does the farm do for its members?
- We look after the land
- We provide you with good quality fresh food (weekly veg box)
- We connect you with the farmers who grow your food and the land it comes from
- We run volunteer sessions and events
How do I become a member?
Once our waiting list re-opens, you will be able to fill in the online registration form and we will email you with more details. If you’re not sure whether harvest share membership is right for you, you can try it out for a month with no obligation to continue (although we’re sure you’ll love the veg so much you’ll want to stay!).
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much does membership cost?
Membership costs start from £4.25 to £21.20 per week (depending on size and budget). You can pay for your veg using Healthy Start vouchers (for people who are pregnant or have children under 4, more info here).
We also run a “pay-it-forward” scheme where those that can afford to can pay an extra contribution (minimum £1 per month) for their veg to help us increase the number of reduced rate shares we are able to offer.
What’s in the veg boxes?
Items in the boxes will be seasonal so you will receive lots of different veg throughout the year. For example:
- Winter: Carrots, potatoes, cabbage, beetroot, pumpkin, onions, Brussels sprouts, celeriac, salad, swede, parsnips
- Spring: Kale, peas, broad beans, cauliflower, garlic, spinach, chard, salad, pak choi
- Summer: Tomatoes, courgettes, cucumber, French beans, fennel, broccoli, salad
- Autumn: Pumpkin, sweetcorn, leeks, celery, red cabbage, pak choi, potatoes

Where do I collect the veg box from?
We harvest the veg every Thursday. Members are welcome to collect their veg share from the farm on Thursday afternoons (3:00pm – 6:00pm) where there will be friendly staff and volunteers around to chat, or on a help-yourself basis from the farm shed all day on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.
Alternatively, if it’s more convenient, you can collect your veg box from Zero Muda in Horsforth on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays or Bramley Elderly Action on Fridays.
Do you deliver?
We aren’t able to offer delivery at the moment, but by collecting your veg you get a chance to see the farm and connect with our growers and other members to build community while we share our weekly harvest.
How is harvest share membership different from other veg box schemes?
We are a CSA, which means the risks and rewards of farming are shared between the farmers (us) and the consumers (you). Rather than picking and choosing what goes in your veg box, you receive a share of whatever veg is ready to harvest each week. You get the additional benefits of knowing where your veg comes from, connecting with the people that grow it, reducing your food miles and an opportunity to build community.
When you become a member you are supporting the community farm to keep growing veg, and your membership fees pay for the work, equipment and supplies the farm needs.
